Allow 7-8 hours from south Orange County (including a stop for grocery shopping, food stop, and gas).
The entrance fee is $35.00 per car.
Stony Creek Market has gas, it is across the street from the campsite.
There are no hook ups or dump stations at this campground.
We ask that our guest wear standard wedding attire (semi-formal/formal). We thought it would be fun to have everyone dress up even though we are in the woods. We will have a photo op on sunset rock after the ceremony which we will be hanging up in our house, so dress to impress! Also keep in mind you will be walking around in dirt and are surrounded by nature, dress accordingly. This wedding is not very traditional… so expect to change in and out of your wedding clothes possibly (for hikes and/or reception etc.). Spontaneity is your friend.
There are 2 bathrooms, no outlets, and no mirrors. The Cox family will be bringing two outdoor tent showers if needed and there are public showers at lodgepole. Battery operated curling iron/straightener recommended or consider a low maintenance hair style.
There are public showers at lodgepole campground which is 15-20 minutes away from the group campsite. There are a few tent showers that the Cox family are bringing that guests can share.
Please plan for standard formal attire for the wedding day (we are doing a photo op on the sunset rock hike which we will be hanging in our house). In addition, bring hiking clothes, summer clothes, and warm clothes. It is around 70-80's during the day and gets colder at night.
Stony Creek Lodge (Motel) is across the street from the campsite, Wuksachi Lodge is 15-20 minutes away (down a windy road), and some additional hotels and airbnbs can be found at the bottom of the mountain (an hour or so away) at Three Rivers or Grant Grove Village.
Bear boxes are limited to only 4 in the group campsite. However, if you have a Yeti, Orca, Artic, or equivalent (with locks) it also qualifies as a bear box. If you are bringing a standard cooler it will need to be stored in one of the bear boxes or a hotel room of one of our guests.
Yes. Count on mosquitos, various other forest bugs, squirrels, deer, and occasionally black bears.
There are small markets in the area with the essentials (toothpaste, wood, some alcohol, snacks) but plan to go to a grocery store before coming up the mountain.
As much as I love our furry friends, we ask that you please leave the pets at home for this event.
Welcome event July 26 (chili), Wedding reception July 27 (vegan/vegetarian options provided), Brunch July 28.
There are 2 universal flushing toilets with a sink in the campground.
