The place we spend most of our free time! Run, walk, or bike one of the loops Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail has to offer. Its a great way to get outdoors and see the city, seems ironic, right? Welcome to Austin!
Kayak Lady Bird Lake
Canoeing on the lake while indulging in a little wine and cheese and watching the sun set is one of our favorite dates. The Rowing Dock offers kayaks, SUP boards, and canoe's. Check out the Austin skyline from the best seat in town.
Barton Springs Pool
The best place to cool off! A spot we love to go to when its just too darn hot to be anywhere else.
Rainey Street
Renovated houses turned into bungalow bars reign supreme on this tucked-away street. Day or night, you’ll find relaxed bar-goers strolling from bar to food trailer to bar again, often with their dogs in tow looking for a kicked back sip and a bite.
Shopping on South Congress
This vibrant neighborhood south of Lady Bird Lake is a must-stroll for guests and a frequent hangout for us. South Congress oozes homespun character and boasts the story of Austin’s yesteryear in its boutiques, eateries, galleries and music venues.
Sandy's Hamburgers
Sandy's is a drive-through or dine-in burger shack with an old-fashioned menu, including milkshakes & sundaes. It has been in Austin since the 1940's! Gretchen frequented Sandy's as a child and now shares all the goodness with Chris.
Salt Lick BBQ
The Salt Lick is located about 30 minutes outside of Austin but it is well worth the drive! Growing up a mile down the road, Gretchen frequented The Salt Lick as a child. The ambiance, food, and wine make it one of the best BBQ restaurants in Texas.
