We’re getting married!

Gretchen was in her second year of interior design school. Chris was working as the designer for a local furniture manufacturer. A student competition was setup by the manufacturer in which Chris was to be the judge. All finalists were chosen blindly by their submissions and an award ceremony was planned. Gretchen was regrettably not one of the finalists, womp, womp. Luckily, one of her friends was. They were the first to arrive, and strolled in to the showroom a bit shy, but confident. When Gretchen and Chris spotted each other, the attraction was immediate. Chris quickly ducked back into his office to tuck in his shirt and straighten himself up. Gretchen tried to play it cool as he approached. Surrounded by friends and colleagues, the two could do nothing but talk professionally about the world of design. Gretchen kept asking questions, and Chris kept talking, and talking, and talking. Gretchen recalled thinking to herself “I could listen to him forever!” The party concluded, all students left, and only employees remained. Chris made a comment to a co-worker about the beautiful tall girl, only to receive the reply “oh, you mean the married one? Didn’t you see her ring?” Chris was immediately disappointed, but realized that if there actually was a ring, he would have seen it. The following Monday, Gretchen decided to send an email to each of the event hosts, including Chris. Her true intentions were disguised as “thank you so much for opportunity… what a great event…”, while her real motives were to see if Chris would reply. He did! His response was reserved, and suggested they get together professionally simply to share design expertise. What better place to have creative conversation than the classic Austin Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. From the moment Gretchen hopped on the back of Chris’ motorcycle and The Zac Brown Band started playing, it was clear that it was a date!
