FAQs

The Wedding Website of Samantha Greiss and Richard (Schyler) Wagner
Question

How do I find the venues?

Answer

Putting the address 221 College Lane Salem, VA 24153 into your GPS will bring you to the general campus area and allow you to find parking. The ceremony is along Heritage Walk, which is the main path connecting the "Roanoke College" sign at the corner of East Clay Street and College Avenue to the Administration Building towards the middle of campus. The reception is located in the Wortman Ballroom, which is inside the Colket Center (behind the Administration Building). A map of the campus is located at the top left of this page to clarify locations in relation to the GPS address.

Question

Where can I find parking?

Answer

Visitor lots are located behind Bast Gym (off of North Market Street) and next to Olin Theater (off of High Street). See the map at the top right of the page for clarification. Overflow parking will be available in the Cregger lot (above the Olin lot, further up High Street, on the other side of Peery Drive, just cut off from the map).

Question

Can I take and post photos/videos?

Answer

Of course! Videos are strongly encouraged since we don't have a videographer. Feel free to email us your videos (sagreiss@mail.roanoke.edu) with our hashtag (#GreissWagnerWedding) in the subject line and we can combine them into one magical film! For photos, we just ask that you tag one of us in your photos or use our hashtag. We want to be able to find them easily! We will also have a QR code at the ceremony that you can scan to upload your photos/videos!

Question

What should I record videos of?

Answer

Whatever you want! Just be sure not to get in the way of the photographer. Videos of the ceremony, bouquet toss, first dance, family dances, and drum solo will be especially appreciated!

Question

Are the venues wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes! The majority of buildings have ramps to get inside, as well as elevators and automatic doors. The campus grounds are solid brick pavers and have gentle (if any) slopes. Short-cuts may not be as accessible, so stick to the main paths. For the quickest/easiest routes between campus locations, feel free to reach out! For parking, it is recommended that you park behind Bast Gym (see above map). There is a ramp into the building, and the elevator will bring you to an exit that is directly across from the Colket Center (location of the reception).

Question

I'm coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

Answer

We put together a list of nearby hotels! You can feel free to stay at one of the locations in our "Where To Stay" tab above, or find another place on your own in the Salem, VA area! If you're traveling in a large group, you can get some great rates on Aribnb, Vrbo, and other rental property sites.

Question

Is it okay to bring my kids?

Answer

Yes! In fact, it is encouraged! We will have kid-friendly activities and lots of fun music for dancing. We will also have a s'mores/dessert bar for the kids (and adults) to enjoy!

Question

Is there a "kid's menu"?

Answer

Yes! We will have chicken tenders and mac'n'cheese available for kids. Just let us know in the allergy/food preference section when you RSVP.

Question

How do I get to the reception from the ceremony?

Answer

The reception is just a 5 minute walk from the ceremony! Simply follow the usher behind the administration building and continue to the building with a stage in front of it. Stairs are to the left and ramp is to the right. Once inside, go up one floor and the Ballroom will be to the left! (Elevator is near the bathrooms)

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

**NEW UPDATE** A total of 200 adult beverages have been purchased in advance. This will average out to 2-3 adult beverages per guest (over age 21). Once 200 adult beverages have been served, the bar will switch to a cash bar. Mocktails and other non-alcoholic beverages will be "all you can drink."

Question

What kind of drinks will be offered at the bar?

Answer

We will have a variety of beer, wine, and spirits. We will also have signature drinks and mocktails.
