Grounded due to Covid, Greg and I both had trips that got cancelled. After rearranging plans, I decided to tick a different item off the bucket list: photographing the Milky Way. My friend and I headed off to Arches National Park. My out-of-shape self kept pausing on the hike up to Delicate Arch, alongside two brothers doing the same thanks to their heavy camera equipment. When we finally made it to the top, we got to chatting. It turned out we would all be up there for the evening together. As the sun went down, I considered myself lucky to have this “seasoned photographer” to give tips on nighttime photography. It truly felt like fate as we sat under the core of the galaxy.
