Question

Will people know English?

Answer

Recife is a very touristic city and was a World Cup host city—however, the minority of people speak English. Hotel employees and some restaurants will likely have English-speakers on-site. Some restaurants even have menus in English. However, we strongly recommend having Google Translate or a similar app handy and picking up a few Portuguese expressions to help you :) We plan on having our ceremony in English but get ready for a mix of cultures and music genres—100% guaranteed to be fun! Additionally, the ceremonial team on-site will be bilingual and able to help you on the wedding day.

Question

Do I need a VISA to visit Brazil?

Answer

YES. As of October 1, 2023, United States citizens will be required to obtain a tourist VISA to enter Brazil. The process is simple and done electronically and the VISA will be provided electronically as well. You'll also need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond the dates of your trip. We will share more information on how to apply for this VISA once we know it.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP to all events by November 1st, 2023.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We have 3 events planned that weekend and would love for you to join us! :) Transportation, food and drinks will be provided for all of them. Please check the "Wedding Events" tab for the complete itinerary and RSVP to all 3.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive by 3:45pm, taking the heavy traffic into consideration. Transportation will be provided from the hotel. The ceremony will start promptly at 4pm. Light snacks and refreshments will be served while you wait.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes—Black Tie Optional. Gentlemen should wear either a tux or suit and tie. Ladies should wear floor-length/long gowns that are not white and avoid lighter colors that photograph as white (beige, light pink/blue/yellow, grey, etc.) The ceremony will be in an outdoor garden, followed by the reception in a climate-controlled area.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate extra guests. Please check your invitation and RSVP page for the number of guests in your party.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Although we love your children, we regretfully cannot accommodate them for the weekend events and celebration. If you have a baby or small child who will be traveling with you, please reach out to us directly. :)

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Brazilian weddings have a buffet and hors d'oeuvres-style food scene that contains many types of foods and lasts all night (yes! the entire length of the wedding so you can taste all of the delicious food). All food items will be appropriately labeled with allergens but please let us know in your RSVP if you have any restrictions.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Yes, transportation will be provided from the hotel. Departure location and time, as well as return times will be shared here closer to the event date.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes, limited parking will be available right in front of the venue. However, we recommend taking the chartered bus/van or Ubering.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Summer! ☀️ Recife is a tropical city and has summer weather year-round so expect it to be hot and humid, with occasional rain showers. High temps are around 85-90F with lows of 75-80F. The average humidity is usually around 75%.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Besides your outfits for the wedding events, make sure to bring some light clothes (since it'll be summer), in addition to your passport, outlet and voltage converter (Brazil electric outlets operate on 220V and have round plugs), and sunscreen.

Question

Do you have any hotel or airline/flight route recommendations?

Answer

Yes! Please check the "Travel and Accommodations" tab for details on these, as well as a local, bilingual travel agent we recommend.

Question

Are Ubers Available in the area?

Answer

Yes and very cheap but cars are often pretty small compared to US vehicles.

Question

Is Brazil safe?

Answer

Yes but Brazil's violence is very different from the US. Please check the "Things To Do" tab for the best safety practices in Brazil. We strongly recommend that you follow the daily practices we've outlined in that tab :)
