Jennifer & Greg- How We Met- 1990!

By Jennifer Hobson

Jennifer was 19, and Greg was 35. Greg had a lot more hair than he does now, and Jennifer has a lot more wisdom than she did when she was younger. Greg was working at WRIF in Detroit as a rock-n-roll dee-jay. Jennifer was a young radio broadcaster who was taking classes at Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts, and took an internship at Greg's station. One day, this blue-eyed, red-headed guy ran into a shy and young Jennifer in the studio hallway. She caught his eye and he smiled at her. They would talk at night in the studio during Greg's shift, discussing bands like the Moody Blues, making each other laugh, talking about the radio business as well as life in general. They were becoming fast friends, even though life would take them in different directions for the next 20 years. Jennifer moved up north shortly after that and began her own career in the radio business, as well as starting a family of her own. Greg was busy starting his own radio station- 89X as well as raising his only daughter Natasha, who became his reason for living. Greg moved to DC in 1999. Jennifer never forgot Greg and she would think of him fondly over the years, wondering what had happened to her radio friend and mentor. Fate would bring them together some 20 years later as they joined social media and Facebook. December 23, 2010, Jennifer posted about her despair with her career and being a single parent living in Detroit with daughters Megan and Allison struggling to make ends meet. Greg had just left his marriage of 18 years. They were both in a dark and lonely place. Greg saw that post and felt compelled to reach out to Jennifer to tell her that she was not alone. They started talking to each other for hours on end, and after awhile, they realized that they were meant to be together. A few months after that, Jennifer re-located to Washington DC to be with Greg and blend their families and the rest is history. As the Moody Blues would say- "Every happy ending needs to have a start"!

Westbound

By Greg St. James

I am closer to the sunset than you But I'll walk as slowly as I can If you will come west with me. I am closer to winter, when the waters freeze, But I will light the fire and keep you warm And we'll see summer again. Your children shall be as my own, Your people shall be my people. I promise We shall walk westbound together. All of our days.
