Three years ago a couple of shaggy-haired musicians met smack-dab in the middle of finals week. These soon-to-be lovebirds had to put off their first date for a few weeks due to finals, term papers, and legendary Syracuse snowstorms. They talked for hours tucked into the corner of the bar about life, music, and all of the odd idiosyncrasies their lives had in common - they felt like they were talking to a life-long friend! At first glance their families and friends were curious: could a laid-back, bass-playing Italian boy from the suburbs of 'Cuse keep up with an jet-setting, flute-playing band nerd? Yep, he definitely could! Over the last three years Amanda and Scott have gotten into countless shenanigans. From college graduations to first jobs; from moving across the state to celebrating new holidays with new families; Scott cracking open his first lobster, Amanda watching him on stage with his band, and burning pizzas so badly the cookie sheets had to be thrown out; from saying goodbye to a first car and setting fire to another, these two have caused 1,022 days of mischief and enjoyed every second of it together! They started their life together in Syracuse. They're stopping in Oneonta for now, but they're excited to take on the rest of the world together, and can do anything with the other by their side. Now, it's time for their biggest and best adventure yet: time to get hitched! Or, as they would say, #letsgetmitched!
Here's the deal; it definitely wasn't a secret. They did this together, just like everything else! It was a couple's decision, and all the pieces fell into place. They visited the jeweler together, and had to keep the engagement to themselves for TWO MONTHS! They had planned the entire wedding - venue, date set - before they could even announce their engagement! Scott took Amanda back to Syracuse in mid-August for a day on the town. They visited some of their favorite haunts: fancy donuts and coffee, and then Amanda's favorite restaurant for dinner. Then they took a trip down memory lane and visited their old street, reminisced about how far they've come. Finally they stopped in Thornden Park, right next to their old apartment, and Scott popped the question in a quiet corner - just the two of them. It was perfect, and everything she could have asked for! Even though they had a non-traditional start, they got their traditional proposal. Please join us in Tivoli to celebrate our love! Be ready to rock n' roll all night, and party to your heart's content - we cannot wait to celebrate with you!
