Our dress code is semi-formal. For example, sun dresses for women; nice jeans and button up for men. Formal attire is also welcome (and encouraged!). Please be mindful of the fact that the venue will be outside in the grass. Stilettos probably aren't the best shoe choice.
Yes! We have a few recommendations. The Castle has 11 overnight rooms for those wishing to stay on site. Anyone attending our wedding will receive a discount on their stay. Please call the Castle for details. Additionally, we have discount codes for the Silver Cloud Hotel Tacoma at Point Ruston Waterfront, Hotel Murano, and the Holiday Inn. These locations vary between 15 and 30 minutes from the venue. Details can be found on our "travel" tab on our website.
We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
YES! This English Tudor/Gothic mansion is one of the few genuine private castles in the United States and the only one on the West Coast. For our guests who love spooky stuff (like Melissa does), Thornewood Castle starred as the haunted mansion called “Rose Red" in the popular ABC television mini-series written by Stephen King. https://www.thornewoodcastle.com/about-the-castle
While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening.
Yes, there is parking at the venue. It is limited, though, and carpooling is requested of our guests if possible.
August in the Seattle area is the absolute best time of year. Temperatures for Lakewood range between 75 and 80 degrees. There will be a slight breeze off American Lake which is nestled behind the Castle. A light jacket might be a good idea for the evening.
Both our ceremony and reception are taking place at the same venue, Thornewood Castle. The address is: 8601 N Thorne Ln SW, Lakewood, WA 98498
Both the ceremony and reception will be outdoors.
Our RSVP deadline is July 16. Formal invitations were mailed June 1.
