Question

What’s the best way to travel to Banff from the U.S.?

Answer

The easiest way to reach Banff is by flying into Calgary International Airport (YYC), which is about a 1.5-hour drive from Banff. From there, you can rent a car, take a shuttle, or arrange private transportation to the resort. Shuttle services run frequently and are a great stress-free option if you prefer not to drive.

Question

How do we get from the airport to Banff?

Answer

The easiest and most seamless way to get to Banff is by flying into Calgary International Airport (YYC), followed by a scenic 1.5–2 hour transfer into the mountains. For transportation, we recommend booking a shuttle in advance for a smooth, stress-free arrival. Two of the most popular options are: Banff Airporter – Offers convenient door-to-door service directly from the airport to the Fairmont Banff Springs. Brewster Express – Provides scheduled transfers throughout the day with drop-offs at key locations, including the Fairmont. Shuttles run regularly from early morning through the evening, and reservations are required in advance. Both shared and private transfer options are available depending on your preference. If you’d prefer more flexibility, rental cars and rideshare services are also available from the airport. No matter how you choose to get there, the drive into Banff is incredibly beautiful—and part of the experience. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in the mountains!

Question

Is there a room block reserved?

Answer

While we do not have a formal room block, a discounted booking link for the Fairmont Banff Springs is available on our Travel page. We’ve also included a list of nearby hotel options for your convenience. We encourage booking early, as Banff is a popular destination, especially in the winter months!

Question

What is the weather like in Banff in mid-January?

Answer

Banff in January is a true winter wonderland, with crisp air, snow-covered mountains, and beautiful alpine scenery. Around January 15th, you can expect average daytime highs of about 21°F and lows around 5°F. Temperatures can be colder in the mornings and evenings, so we recommend dressing in warm layers, including a proper winter coat, gloves, and boots to stay comfortable while enjoying all that Banff has to offer.

Question

Will the events be held indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All wedding festivities will take place indoors at the Fairmont Banff Springs. Both the ceremony and reception will be held in Mt. Stephen Hall, allowing everyone to stay warm and comfortable while we celebrate together.

Question

What is Black Tie Optional?

Answer

Black Tie Optional means we invite you to dress in formal, elevated attire while still allowing for some flexibility. For gentlemen, a tuxedo or a dark suit with a tie or bow tie are both great options. For ladies, a floor-length gown, a formal midi dress, or an elegant cocktail dress are all perfect choices. Think polished, sophisticated, and celebration-ready—we can’t wait to see everyone dressed up for the occasion!

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We would love to celebrate with everyone, but we are only able to accommodate guests who are formally listed on the invitation. If a plus one has been reserved for you, it will be clearly indicated on your invite. Thank you so much for understanding!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

While we absolutely adore your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy a fun weekend away celebrating with us!
