The adventure begins...

Back in 2014, Nicola was working as a nurse in the Pediatric ICU at Duke and Jack came through as a nervous first-year resident physician. She thought he was handsome, kind, smart and she probably sho​uldn't let him get away. So she did some social media stalking as one does in the 21st century... After a serendipitous mishap, where she accidentally "friended" him on facebook, the two connected and began chatting. This led to a sweet first date in Chapel Hill on an early fall evening.

One house in Durham, two neurotic cats, a few job changes and many adventures later, they went to their favorite city, Charleston, in April 2018 to run the Cooper River Bridge Run. Little did Nicola know, but it would be her last race with her "boyfriend". Jack had planned lots of surprises, though of course the weather had plans of its own. After walking around in the rain semi-aimlessly, getting totally soaked, and Nicola getting suspicious, Jack finally stopped at the waterfront pineapple fountain they'd taken a picture at a year before. There, under an umbrella and a light drizzle, he asked her to marry him. She said yes, of course, after she asked if he was going to get down on one knee!
