What does black tie optional mean?

Answer

Black tie attire is formal, but for this event, tuxedos would be a bit too formal. A nice suit works perfectly and is exactly what we’re going for. For women, a floor-length gown, an elegant midi dress, or a dressy cocktail dress would all be great choices.

What should I do between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Between the ceremony (ending around 3:30 PM) and cocktail hour at 5:00 PM, guests are welcome to enjoy some free time in downtown St. Charles. The church is within easy walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants, and the charming historic Main Street area — a perfect chance to grab a drink, explore a bit, or stop back at your hotel to freshen up before the evening celebration. Transportation will be provided to Cantigny via shuttle bus from Hotel Baker and Hilton Garden Inn St. Charles in the hours following the ceremony. If you prefer not to wait for the shuttle, Ubers are readily available in St. Charles. We look forward to celebrating with everyone at cocktail hour beginning at 5:00 PM.
