What brings us together today...

A newly promoted digital marketing professional sits at his desk after the holidays, ready to leave his extra copywriting workload behind. Little does he know, the new writer joining the team might be more than he bargained for. Enter Megan, filling a quiet office with an abrupt and much-too-loud, "so what do you do here?". Persistent attempts to strike up her first office friendship soon became a whirlwind of book swaps, music debates (ok, maybe there ARE good Arctic Monkeys albums after Whatever People Say), and late nights spent comparing record collections and psychotic dogs. But try as she might, Megan could never manage to convince Grant to hang out with her outside of work. There was only one method left — deception. So she roped another Meg (more about her on the PARTY page) into "agreeing" to come with her to an Arlo Guthrie concert near the townhouse where Grant lived. After the other Meg "surprisingly" canceled, Grant graciously offered to join Megan for drinks before the show. By the time the big day came, "drinks before the show" transformed into "carpooling to a work event, then lunch, then coffee, then drinks". And they didn't stop talking the whole time. With that extra ticket still burning a hole in her digital wallet, only one question remained. They saw Arlo together. And the rest was history.

Grant and Megan built their life together in Alexandria, VA (one of Oprah's Top Ten Christmas Towns, as Grant is ALWAYS quick to mention). They spent their days hiking, rock climbing, building legos, playing games, and tubing down the Potomac with friends old and new (again, you can meet some of those awesome folks on the PARTY page). At night, you could find them trying out new restaurants, camping somewhere strange, or dominating the dance floors and mosh pits of virtually every indie rock show that came to DC. In between these moments of incredible joy, they also supported each other through debilitating illnesses, stressful job changes, and — oh yeah — tragedies that spanned the globe. And, most importantly, Grant became the best dog dad that Penny Lane could ever ask for.

A year later, the pandemic had upended our heroes’ routine — but no one could foresee the extent. What started as two weeks' work-from-home soon became a new remote paradigm, opening the doors for an adventure of grand proportions. Yearning for new experiences after months in their small duplex, Megan and Grant began setting forth, finding solace off the beaten trail. A week in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania here, another in the Narangansett Bay there, finding love and partnership in the great outdoors, on the ski slopes, in quirky hotels and forgotten souvenir shops. A fated February spent amid the snow at Megan’s childhood home in Jeffersonville, Vermont, planted the seed for what could be. A triumphant return to the place that had always held her heart. Together, a place where they could grow.

Surprise! Grant got her so good. Megan never saw the Christmastime engagement coming. Though she really should’ve … as they spent the day before driving through quaint Vermont towns looking at homes to call their own (I mean c’mon, right?) There, in front of the tree at the base of Burlington’s Church Street, our heroes committed to sealing the deal.

Megan and Grant come home for the first time to Vergennes, VT (which has incredibly been snubbed from Oprah’s Top Ten Christmas Towns list) just in time for mud season. They’ll spend the next year exploring the Northeast, finding the best swim spots, ranking creemee stands, hiking and/or skiing depending on the weather, and learning what it means to be homeowners. The rest of the time? Planning for how they hope to celebrate their union with YOU — their friends, family, teammates and confidantes.
