One fateful December day in 2014, Grant sent Dennis a clear, concise message on a dating app: "You're cute." After exchanging messages for a few weeks, they decided to meet IRL. The happy couple met for their first date at Sunset Grill & Tap in Allston, MA (RIP). Dennis greeted Grant with a handshake, which puzzles him to this day. After enjoying a few (several) pints and an (absurdly large) order of nachos, the two decided they didn't want the night to end just yet. As luck would have it, a coworker of Grant's invited him to a bachelorette bar crawl nearby. Before making their way to the crawl, Dennis and Grant decided to get a nip from the nearest packie for the road. While they were waiting for their car, the two shared their first kiss in the parking lot of Blanchards Liquors. And so began the first of many adventures.
There's nothing like Pride Month in New York City. On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Grant asked Dennis to accompany him on a stroll around the West Village, a historically queer neighborhood of Manhattan. The plan was, as far as Dennis knew, to do some gay things and take some cute pictures. Grant encouraged Dennis to wear "something nice," but true to form he wore a tank top because it was damn hot out. After wandering around and absorbing some history, they came upon an impromptu drag show outside Christopher Park, home to Stonewall National Monument, the first LGBTQ national monument. Once they got their fill of the performance they continued down Christopher Street toward Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which is commonly identified as the catalyst for the LGBTQ rights movement. Directly across the street from Stonewall Inn, Grant suggested they stop to take a picture. Grant put his bag down, and suddenly Dennis noticed a box in his hand. As he got down on one knee, Grant said, "I always say we make a great team, and I want to keep being on this team for forever." While the happy couple kissed and put on their rings, the crowd at Stonewall Inn's patio erupted in applause and cheers. It was like being in a movie! To celebrate, your favorite lactose-intolerant duo went to Murray's Cheese Shop and got too much cheese for two people.
