Our non-traditional venue is called The Double A Bar Ranch. Locally known as the AA Barn, it is registered as a historic barn and is owned by the US Forest Service out in the woods near Grand Lake, CO. It used to be a working ranch and old corrals can still be found on site. It is located adjacent to the Colorado River headwaters. In the summer wild lupine flowers surround the property with an abundance of wildlife in the area.
For the wedding, please dress in your best “Magical Mountain Forest Formal” We are going to have a nice casual summer wedding vibe in the forest where you will be walking either on dirt, grass, or floor of the old barn, so whatever works best for you in this setting. We recommend no super tall or pointed high heels due to the uneven ground. Daytime temps are likely to be in the mid 70’s to 80’s, and please remember to bring a jacket for nighttime, as it can still get cold in Grand Lake during the summer evenings since it is at 8,500’ elevation.
Parking is limited to 20 vehicles so please carpool if you can. Vehicles cannot be driven off the gravel areas, and we cannot alter any features of the site to accommodate parking. We also do not want anyone drinking and driving as there will be an open bar the night of the wedding. If you are planning on drinking please schedule transportation to/from the venue. Also, please note that if you are not used to the high altitude that 1 drink at altitude = 2 drinks at sea level. Some local transportation services include: https://winterwagon.com/taxi/grand-lake/ https://www.grandmountainrides.com
UPDATED March 2025: Due to guest count restrictions at the venue, we are only able to accommodate children age 6+ who are members of the family. Thank you for understanding!
