How We Met

Grant and Alex exchanged contact information a few months before arriving at college, with the help of a mutual friend who knew they were both going to Notre Dame. The rest is history. The night before classes started at Notre Dame, Grant and Alex met up and rode their bikes around the most beautiful college campus in the world. Grant met Alex outside of Pangborn Hall, wearing SpongeBob Squarepants pajama pants and a Flash t-shirt, and the two laughed nonstop well past midnight. When it came time to lock the bikes, they were too distracted to properly lock their bikes to the rack and continued talking. Not much has changed.

You know when you know...

Less than a month into dating, we told each other we wanted to be together forever. Our second month we said "I love you" (yes, ironically this came after), and in the third month we confessed we'd actually known we loved each other since the first week we met. We couldn't explain it, we just knew. And we could not be more excited to share this day with all of you incredible people.

Loki

Our cat is seriously awesome. See below. After Alex begged Grant to go to the Humane Society last March to see this kitten she had her eyes on, Grant finally caved - thinking that she'd see how much work they are and change her mind. Grant was right, kittens were a lot - so they found themselves in the section of the Humane Society with the one-year-olds, curled up with a hyper friendly mackerel tabby. Loki had crawled onto Grant's lap, rolled over onto his back, started purring and we signed the papers to pick him up the next day. We're still not sure if he's 100% cat - we taught him to sit, he fetches, plays tug-of-war, follows us around everywhere we go, and he even likes to watch football. A serious thank you to Alex's housemates for not killing her when she brought home a cat spontaneously and to Kate Clarke for helping us bring him home.
