Our Italy Favorites

Polignano a Mare

Polignano a Mare

Via S. Vito, Polignano a Mare, Puglia 70044, Italy

Polignano a Mare is one of Puglia’s most stunning coastal towns, known for its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear water, and lively beachside atmosphere. We enjoyed a boat tour through the caves along the coastline, explored the streets, shops, and spritz!

Locorotondo

Locorotondo

Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, 70010 Locorotondo BA, Italy, Locorotondo, Puglia 70010, Italy

Locorotondo, in the heart of Puglia offers whitewashed trulli, winding cobblestone streets, and flower-filled balconies, great seafood &better wine. Spend the afternoon wandering through little cafés, boutique shops, and gelato spots!

Monopoli

Monopoli

Monopoli, Apulia 70043, Italy

Monopoli, a coastal city in Puglia offers less tourists with coast views, shops, and amazing seafood. We had a unforgettable dinner along the water at CarloQuinto.

Colosseum

Colosseum

1 Piazza del Colosseo, Roma, Lazio 00184, Italy

If you think about the Roman Empire as much as Grant does, you'll want to add the Colosseum to the top of your must-sees in Rome.

Palatine Hill

Palatine Hill

30 Via di San Gregorio, Roma, Lazio 00186, Italy

If going to see the Colosseum, this is right next door. Tickets can be purchased for both, but if going on a weekend then it is free access!

Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain

Piazza di Trevi, Roma, Lazio 00187, Italy

Fun fact, first time we were here and threw a euro in the fountain - we both separately wished we would get married to each other!

Vatican City

Vatican City

Vatican City, 00120, Vatican

Either soak in the breathtaking views of the Vatican from Piazza San Pietro or carve out some time to tour the the Basilica. We highly recommend getting tickets in advance if you would like to tour the inside.

Salerno

Salerno

Salerno, Campania, Italy

If you are looking for a quaint town on the Amalfi Coast away from tourists and crowds, we stayed here for a few nights to soak in Italian culture, food, and views. We highly recommend a boat tour along the coast that makes stops in Amalfi and Positano.

Florence

Florence

Florence, Tuscany, Italy

Only about 1.5 hours by train, Florence is a beautiful city with a rich history. I recommend going to the top of the duomo in the center of Florence before heading to the Piazza della Signoria to see the statue of David.

Venice

Venice

Venice, Veneto, Italy

One of Grant's favorite cities in the world, if you find time to head north, explore the small streets and various piazzas before taking a trip down the river on a gondola. Trains from Rome to Venice are approximately 4 hours. PS. Make sure to visit before the city goes underwater! PSS. One day Grant will take Abby here!
