Things To Do

We are so excited to be getting married in our favourite place: the Rocky Mountains! Below are some suggestions for the best things to do in the area:
Canmore

Canmore

Canmore, AB, Canada

The only place we love more than Banff is the town just next to it: Canmore! Canmore is just outside the National Park and is a lot more affordable to stay in and explore. If you are planning on extending your trip around the wedding, we strongly recommend staying and exploring the town. Please let us know if you plan to do this, as we would love to help you plan your time in the area. Here are a few of our favourites: • Tank 310 – Brewery with the BEST food and views. Also check out Grizzly Paw, its partner brewery on the main strip. (Graham recommends the Rutting Elk Red.) • Rocky Mountain Bagel Co. – Best breakfast stop – a MUST try. •Georgetown Inn – Where we took our engagement photos. Cozy atmosphere and the best meat pies. • Stonewaters Shop – Molly’s idea of heaven. •Alberta’s Own Marketplace – Perfect for decor shopping. • Valhalla Pure Outfitters – Best for buying outdoor gear.

Banff Gondola

Banff Gondola

100 Mountain Avenue, Banff, AB T1L 1J3, Canada

In our opinion, this is a must do if you want panormaic mountain views. The Gonola takes you up Sulphur Mountain and to a boardwalk that will give you some of the best views in Banff. But dress warm! The cold winds up there are no joke. There are restaurants and a small museum up top that are worth a look at.

Banff Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort

Banff Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort

AB, Canada

The Iconic Sunshine Village is a great stop for those wishing to get some skiing done. Snowboarders beware, stick to Goats Eye mountain to avoid long plateaus. We have been here many times and it is always a great day out. OTHER SKI OPTIONS: • On a budget - check out Mt. Norquay Ski Resort. •Or if you want to really experience Banff, Lake Louise Ski Resort is our personal favourite!

Johnston Canyon

Johnston Canyon

Bow Valley Parkway, AB T1L 1K2, Canada

A great hike with many options. There are the lower and upper falls, which can get very crowded, but are an excellent choice if you aren't planning on bringing lots of gear but want to see some iconic Banff wilderness. If you have sturdy enough boots, we recommend continuing up the trail to the InkPots Viewpoint.

Tunnel Mountain Trail

Tunnel Mountain Trail

AB T1L 1H5, Canada

The first hike Graham and I ever did in Banff back in 2022! How serendipitous that we are now getting married in front of the famous Rundle Mountain that is the stunning backdrop of this hike. A relatively accessible hike. It can get busy in the afternoon, so try to get out early. We strongly recommend good shoes for any hiking in Banff. The trails can be very slippery on the way down without good grip. Molly and Graham have lots of shoe grippers, so let us know if you need to borrow any!

White Mountain Adventures

White Mountain Adventures

202 Bear Street, Banff, AB T1L 1E6, Canada

This Adventure group comes recommeded to us and would be a great option for visitors who want to get out and explore the Banff Wilderness. They offer winter snowshoeing, guided hikes and more.

Banff Upper Hot Springs

Banff Upper Hot Springs

1 Mountain Avenue, Banff, AB T1L 1K2, Canada

After all this outdoor adventure, you may be looking to warm up... we love the hot springs for this! It can get a wee crowded, but it's a very affordable and fun activity.
