Our story

Through reflecting on our story, we can’t help but acknowledge the Lord’s hand over our unique and very special relationship and thank Him for what He has done! We are thankful to have known each other for 10 years. We first met in 7th grade, in 2016, when our parents thought it would be a good idea to get the families together so the kids could meet. Although first impressions were awkward, here we are getting MARRIED 10 years later! The following winter, the Goldreyers decided to move up to Breck for the season and enrolled Allie and Gracie in school there. That’s when we became best friends! We went to school together and spent nearly all our time together, including our family's spring break road trip. We always liked each other, and just about everyone knew, but there was no point in admitting it because we knew Gracie was about to move back to Austin. Over the years, our families have shared many trips and countless hangouts in Breckenridge. All the while, our friendship was off and on, liking each other and talking throughout the years. Even with times in early high school when Jack went to Austin just to visit Gracie and vice versa. Fast forward to 2021, the spring semester of Gracie and Jack’s senior year of high school, right before college. Gracie had a group of friends up to Breck and invited Jack to ski and meet them. That day, Jack told his friend that he was going to marry Gracie, and Gracie’s friends told her how obvious it was that she liked Jack when they were together. Meanwhile, our parents were at the Renners’ talking about the trip they were taking to the BVIs next week. The conversation quickly turned to convincing the Goldreyers to join them. Gracie and Nick were able to do school virtually because of COVID, so they and Liz spontaneously decided to join! That trip was the first time we spent quality time together after having grown up a bit. It quickly became clear that the feelings we’d always shared had never gone away. After a week of being together nearly 24/7, GRACIE finally made a move. Haha. When we returned home, Jack took every opportunity he could to see Gracie and really wanted to date her. However, Gracie was hesitant, and understandably so, because the timing couldn’t have been worse with both of us about to head off to different colleges. But Jack was determined and wasn’t about to let Gracie get away again. On February 24, 2021, he ultimately won her over, and Gracie agreed to be his girlfriend! Jack spent most of his summer before college in Austin with Gracie, falling more in love - not only with her, but also with the new way of life she and her friends were experiencing through Jesus. Fall came around, Gracie went off to UT Austin, and Jack headed to CU Boulder. Without question, we decided to do long distance. We were ready to take on 4 years of traveling back and forth, since neither of us could imagine any other way! Jack tried his best to love CU Boulder, but he couldn’t help but think about Austin. Then, without even knowing if he wanted to transfer, some of Gracie’s guy friends offered up an extra room for sophomore year. Jack felt the Lord calling, and off he went (Gracie being there didn’t hurt either)! After moving, Jack got into UT, and suddenly, we were doing life in the same place for the first time since middle school. The second half of college together was unbelievable! We made many memories with our friends, spent lots of time with our families, and even studied abroad together in Spain! After graduation, Jack headed to Alaska for the whole summer to guide at The Quarry Project, but he came back early with a plan. He surprised Gracie on one knee at one of their favorite spots in Breck! NOW WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!
