Our story began on July 16, 2023, thanks to a little help from our friends. A success story of being set up by mutual friends over a birthday weekend in St. Augustine. From the very beginning, something about our connection felt easy and genuine. What first stood out to me about Joao was how kind, gentle, and respectful he was that entire weekend. Being around him felt so easy, and I immediately felt like I could truly be myself. The first thing that stood out about Grace was how beautiful she was. I still remember when we were picking her up from her apartment for the trip and being completely taken back the moment she walked out to the car. But what stood out even more was that her personality matched her beauty - she was down to earth, goofy, and so much fun to be around. What started as two strangers meeting for the first time turned into a weekend full of laughter, effortless conversation, and a comfort that felt rare. We both left St. Augustine knowing there was something special between us. After the trip, one Instagram DM turned into exchanged numbers, late-night conversations, and spending more and more time together. From there, everything seemed to fall into place so naturally. Every conversation, every date, and every moment together made it clearer that what we had was different. And now here we are, about to get married! :) ------------------------------------------------------------- COMO NOS CONHECEMOS Nossa história começou em 16 de julho de 2023, com uma ajudinha dos nossos amigos. Um verdadeiro caso de sucesso de um “arranjo” feito por amigos em comum durante um fim de semana de aniversário em St. Augustine. Desde o começo, havia algo na nossa conexão que parecia leve e genuíno. O que primeiro me chamou atenção no João foi o quanto ele foi gentil, educado e respeitoso durante todo o fim de semana. Estar perto dele era muito fácil, e eu imediatamente senti que podia ser completamente eu mesma. A primeira coisa que me chamou atenção na Grace foi o quanto ela era linda. Eu ainda me lembro de quando fomos buscá-la no apartamento para a viagem e fiquei completamente impressionado no momento em que ela saiu até o carro. Mas o que mais me marcou foi que a personalidade dela combinava com a beleza - ela era simples, divertida e muito agradável de estar por perto. O que começou com dois estranhos se conhecendo pela primeira vez se transformou em um fim de semana cheio de risadas, conversas naturais e um conforto que parecia raro. Nós dois saímos de St. Augustine sabendo que havia algo especial entre nós. Depois da viagem, uma mensagem no Instagram virou troca de telefone, conversas até tarde da noite e cada vez mais tempo juntos. A partir daí, tudo foi acontecendo de forma muito natural. Cada conversa, cada encontro e cada momento juntos deixavam ainda mais claro que o que tínhamos era diferente. E agora aqui estamos nós, prestes a nos casar! :)
