Grace and McKay met during their freshman year at Campbell University in Lillington, North Carolina. Grace was on the women’s lacrosse team, and McKay was on the football team. Their teams often hung out together for social events, and that’s how the two first got to know each other. When everyone was sent home during the pandemic, Grace and McKay kept in touch virtually and grew even closer. Once they returned to campus in the fall of 2020, they finally went on their first date…and the rest was history! From that point on, they were inseparable throughout the remainder of their years at Campbell. After graduation, Grace began her Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. McKay moved to Florida with her to support her through this new chapter and began teaching and coaching football at St. Augustine High School, where he serves as the special teams coach for the Yellow Jackets! Grace will graduate with her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree in April 2026! In the middle of this exciting season of life, McKay planned the perfect surprise proposal. While Grace was in a clinical rotation in Virginia, he brought her to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, Virginia, under the guise of meeting her parents for a candle-making class...but McKay had other plans! In a beautiful setting, he got down on one knee and asked Grace to marry him. He then brought her back to her family's house, where several of their friends and family surprised her to celebrate their engagement! In their free time, Grace and McKay love playing with their dog, Coda, going to the beach, working out together, and exploring local restaurants. They’re so excited to start the next chapter of their lives surrounded by the people they love most!
