Pisgah is a beautiful national preserve just 30 minutes from Lutheridge. Within Pisgah are several hikes for a variety of experience levels. Here are some of Jacob and Lara's favorites: Looking Glass Falls: Located right off of the paved road. View them from the overlook or walk down the stairs to the bottom and walk right up to the falls. John Rock: This moderate-difficult hike starts at the fish hatchery and ends with a beautiful overlook on a bald mountainside. Cove Creek: a site that was frequently used by camp, a short walk with lead to interesting water features and a field perfect for picnicking or hanging out.
The Parkway was the location of Jacob and Lara's first date, proposal, and many fun trips in between so needless to say, they highly recommend it. Drive the scenic route and stop at one of the many gorgeous overlooks or head on the parkway to one of these hikes: Black Balsam: Hike to the view-packed Black Balsam Knob summit on the Art Loeb Trail, exploring a grassy, wildflower-covered mountain with 360-degree vistas, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville. Craggy Dome: This popular trail climbs a short distance from a Blue Ridge Parkway overlook to a high, rocky peak with commanding views of the Craggy Gardens area. Graveyard Fields: a 2.9 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Balsam Grove, North Carolina that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate.
This is the cathedral of breweries- a must visit! They offer both self-directed and guided tours to give a full view of the massive site. The outdoor garden is beautiful and the indoor restaurant, downstairs bar and upstairs bar are nice and cozy- all excellent places to enjoy the 23 different taps.
This is Jacob and Lara's personal favorite local brewery. It is very close to Lutheridge with a very relaxed vibe and lots of outdoor space to hang out.
This is one of the best places in the world to get great beer. Jacob's favorite is Burial Brewing Co. and Lara's favorite is Catawba.
