We met during band camp in the summer of 2005 when Heather was going into 10th grade and Brandon was headed into 8th. Brandon played drums in the marching band and was going through his gothic phase and Heather was part of the color guard and was hyper and crazy as can be. We were friends right off the bat but always had crushes on each other and just didn't know it. Ironically, we both thought each other was out of our league and thought we never stood a chance of dating. Nevertheless, that never stopped us from always running back into the band wing after a football game or show so that we could hug each other before we left. We lost touch for about 8 years following Heather's graduation. We still texted here and there but hadn't found the time to hang out. Eventually, Heather moved to Spokane, Washington to pursue her career. In the summer of 2016, Heather came back to Pennsylvania for a camping trip with her dad. Brandon saw Heather post about this return trip on Facebook and sent her a message to see if she could meet up. We both really missed each other and it had been waaaayyyy too long. Well, we met up at Brandon's place and he took Heather for lunch at the Gin Mill in Lebanon. Heather had butterflies the whole time, especially when he looked at her with the most sincere look she's ever seen and said her eyes were beautiful. It was like a fairy tale to Heather and it was the first time she had ever felt truly beautiful and she was instantly swept off her feet. Brandon, likewise, was trying to keep a handle on his jitters. Heather went back to Washington for 9 more months until she accepted a job in PA in March 2017. Even though we were apart for that long, we have spoken to each other every day since that first lunch date. After Heather moved back to PA, we "officially" started dating. It still blows our minds that the little goth boy and hyper girl ended up together.
Fast forward to summer of 2018 - We went back to the Gin Mill for our "anniversary" dinner like we had the year before. We sat at that same table we had during that first lunch, only Heather didn't know that Brandon had called ahead and asked for that table specifically. We spent the meal fantasizing about the future and telling each other how in love we were. All the mushy gushy stuff. When we were done eating, just before we were about to leave, Brandon excused himself to use the bathroom. What he really went to do, though, was to go ask the manager to come around the other side and take pictures of what was about to happen. The girl tending the bar also offered him a quick shot of liquid courage before he came back to sit with Heather. Heather was about to grab her purse and stand up to leave when Brandon took her hand and reminisced about that first day we reconnected. He told her how much he loved her, told her he'd never hurt her, and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Heather, of course, said "YES!" (and may have peppered in a few expletives in excitement, haha). On December 7, 2019, Brandon and Heather will finally tie the knot and celebrate the love they thought only existed in fairy tales. We hope each of you can share in this chapter of our love story.
