Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh".

How we met, By the Bride

You have always been the one even when I didn’t know you.

In the midst of Waterloo East High school chaos, minding my business and deliberately focusing on my studies, I was seated beside Deshay in Math class where we had our first encounter. (rolls eyes, came to find out a few years later he asked the teacher to sit by me). Fast forward to summer 2014, driving back from a family vacation from Texas to Iowa, I decided to accept his friend request on Facebook. WOOO that man jumped in my inbox faster than the speed of light. I guess it really goes down in the D’M. Just kidding, we became really good friends after that. This guy literally proved why he wants to be more than a friend. His willingness to drop any and everything to cater to the needs of a broke college student got me reconsidering our friendship (Plus he was good on the eyes yah). From taking my charger to work for me, bringing me McDonald's fries (to know me is to know I'm a sucker for fries), to cooking rice in a RICE Cooker (if you know you know, when a Liberian jue don’t eat rice all day , she haven’t eaten), and pushing me to succeed was all I needed to know that this man was my person. One thing I am grateful for is that I did not take too much time to come to a decision because, God knows I could have completely missed my blessing, (my sweet patient potato). Deshay's ability to click immediately with my close friends and family was remarkable. Our values, interests, and future align with one another. Our differences were intriguing and beautiful, which impacted us to learn, love, comfort, strengthen and increase value to our union. Let’s just say everyday is a honeymoon stage in our relationship. When he popped the question last year, it was the easiest decision and “yes” I have ever said. In my mother’s voice, Deshay and I are like “t-shirt and butt hole” (the end of the one shirt being worn is never too far from the glutes). I cannot imagine doing life with anyone else in my divine chaos than my Person, my Sevyn Father.

How We Met, By The Groom

First comes math class, then comes marriage!

I remembered seeing Gorpu for the first time in the hallway at East High School and saying to myself, "Damn," but she paid me no mind what's so ever. I would go out of my way to put myself in the same walkway as her, seeing her in the hallway, and following behind her thinking about how I was about to approach her. Some people may call that stalking, but I call it plotting and taking action. I was in straight vulture mode. Luckily, I changed into a math class she just happened to be in, I swear. I just didn't know how i wanted to step to her; I had it in my mind not to mess this up. Meanwhile, I never had problems talking to females, but I was scared as shit to speak to her. Still, you know a bold brotha like me can be real consistent. So in class, I went to the teacher and told her I was beefing with the guy next to me, and if he looked my way again, we was going to have a real problem. I definitely had no problem with anyone lol. I cannot make this up; as she looked around, I told her I could sit next to Gorpu because she is pretty smart and could help me with my work when I had questions as well. The teacher was cool with it, so we made the switch; I don't think I spoke one word to this girl the whole semester. All of that for no good reason, and to tell the complete truth, I was in a relationship at the time. A year later, while in college, on the same type of time, I wrote her on Facebook and asked her, "What's your number? I have to talk to you about something". She shot me her line, and I called and didn't want a damn thing. Everyone knows I can talk, and ever since that call, I haven't shut up. We have been rocking since.
