UPDATED [5/24]: We are going forward with our wedding as planned! Your health and safety are extremely important to us and so we will still be taking a few precautions. Guests attending the ceremony, with the exception of the wedding party, will be asked to wear masks (you may bring your own, but we will provide them, just in case). The reception will be held outdoors and so no masks will be required (though if you would prefer to wear one, we will, of course, not discourage that). We strongly encourage everyone who is planning to attend to get vaccinated if you have not already done so, especially if you are traveling from out of town. We know that this is controversial, but with people traveling and being in a rural area, we don't want to put anybody at risk. We also respectfully ask folks to continue to be diligent with handwashing and other basic hygiene. Thank you and we're so excited to see everyone's faces!
No. We will be sending a formal invitation separately. Because the pandemic is going to limit the amount of people who will be able to attend, we wanted to send the news to lots of people, not only the ones who will be able to be there.
The ceremony is scheduled to be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Nevada City, CA, which is about 20 min from the family farm, where the reception will be held (see below). Holy Trinity Episcopal Church 201 Nevada St Nevada City, CA 95959
The reception will be held at the family farm: Bierwagen's Donner Trail Fruit 17473 Lower Colfax Rd Grass Valley, CA 95945
Because the wedding is on Friday night, we will do rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Thursday afternoon and evening, and we of course, hope you'll be there! We also understand schedules can be tricky. If you are flying in, that means it's probably best to arrive no later than Thursday (6/24) morning, before noon. Any later than that and you'll probably miss it. For folks that are driving up, we recommend aiming to be in the Grass Valley area just after lunchtime on the Thursday (6/24).
There are more details on the travel page, so we'd recommend going there. But the short answer for out of state guests is fly into Sacramento and either rent a car or let us know when you are arriving (and who all's coming) and we'll send someone to fetch you. Both venues are about an hour and 15 minutes from the airport by car (assuming no traffic). If you are in-state, google maps is probably better than us at giving you directions.
Well, we can't be certain, but it's a good bet that it will be low to mid-90s during the day (dry heat and light breeze in the afternoon) and 60s in the mornings and evenings. So dress for sun, but bring a wrap for when the sun goes down.
We're so glad you asked! There are lots of great things to do and see in this area (and it's lovely too!). You can find all that stuff, with suggestions for varieties of groups (and we didn't forget to consider kids too) on our Things To Do page.
Because it turns out that Saturdays in summer (even during COVID) are rather popular for weddings, so it was easier to book things on Friday.
