Matt and Anna met on a classic Seattle night—dark, rainy, and calm—in April 2019. In a moment of fate (or strong Aries energy), they both showed up to their first date wearing bright red blazers. Sparks flew immediately. They bonded over their journalism backgrounds, a shared love of big cities, and the kind of quick banter that made it feel like they’d known each other for years. Two weeks later, Matt dropped Anna off at the airport for a trip to Palm Springs. By then, they were already completely smitten—and that was that. They built their life together in Columbia City, surrounded by dear friends and a tight-knit community that meant everything to them. Along the way, they’ve racked up some miles—getting engaged in Montreal, eating their way through Paris and the south of France, grabbing a proper cheesesteak in Philadelphia, and making more trips to Vancouver than they can count. Add in the San Juan Islands, Hawaii, and summers in the Catskills with Matt’s family (and his extended Onteora crew), and it’s been a pretty good run. After weathering the pandemic and six Seattle winters, Anna called for more sunshine. In July 2024, they moved to San Francisco, where they’ve created a life they love. These days, you’ll find them sharing Mission burritos in Dolores Park, reading by the ocean, record shopping, or winery hopping with Anna’s grandma, Nancy.
