If you're wanting to go with another hotel or air b&b, go for it! We would recommend staying near the downtown area for walkability.
Flight
The easiest airport will be LAX! From there, it's a short ~1.5hr drive up the coast to SB. There's also a small regional airport in Santa Barbara.
