Please note that the Sacramento airport is roughly an hour and a half drive from Chico, so definitely plan on renting a car once you arrive if you decide to fly in. I have found that Costco is the most affordable option for rental cars if you have a membership!

Driving Here

The drive to Chico from San Diego is about 8 hours give or take, and it’s pretty much just a straight shot up the I-5. For our loved ones coming in from San Diego, I recommend trying to leave around 4am if possible so you can avoid the L.A. traffic and get in to town around lunch time. For rest stops, check out Kettleman City! It’s a near exact halfway point with good food options and a playground for the kiddos. Their huge general store makes for a nice time to walk around and stretch your feet, and maybe find a unique souvenir.
