Randy and Danielle both attended Vanderbilt University to get their PhDs in science. Danielle chose her research lab in spring 2013, and Randy chose the same lab a year later. When Randy joined the lab, he was given the desk/lab space right behind Danielle. They got to know each other for a couple years, always chatting and sometimes eating lunch together.
One of Danielle and Randy's labmates threw a onesie pajama party that they both attended. They hung out the whole night and both left wondering if there was something more than a friendship developing... (If you must know, Randy wore a turtle onesie and Danielle a unicorn onesie)
Danielle was looking to celebrate a graduate school milestone and asked about ten people to join her to see a movie. Over the following days, each person kept backing out for one reason or another, until it was just Randy left. And so, they went on their “accidental first date”, as they like to call it. :) Danielle waited the whole movie for Randy to hold her hand, but he didn’t, so she was worried that he didn't like her romantically. However, after the movie Randy suggested to go get drinks. Their night ended with a kiss!
Fast forward about 2 years later when Danielle and Randy took a trip to Paris. It was both of their first time to Europe. Randy proposed in the beautiful gardens at the Palace de Versailles (see picture below). It was absolutely the trip of a lifetime!
