we're getting married!!!

In Wilmington, a mutual friend was throwing a Thanksgiving college party. Alex was in town from APP State, while Rowboat was visiting from NC State. They bonded over shots and beer pong. At the end of the holiday weekend they went their separate ways back to college until the next college party.

In 2020, Alex moved back to Raleigh NC while Richard was busy purchasing his first home. They reconnected during the summer of 2020, naturally at Beer Garden. It had been almost 10 years since meeting, and the timing was finally right. *Funny Note: Richard had wished Alex a Happy Birthday the year before, but she had changed her number upon moving to California. So she never knew until this 'date'.

Pre-Proposal: Alex, the Type-A she is, was offering to assist Richard in shopping for the ring in Aug '21. Little did she know Richard had already gotten the ring. Feeling proud of his accomplishments, Richard shared news of his recent purchase. Alex somehow didn't die of waiting for 3 months for the proposal. The Proposal: A long planned trip to IKEA in Virginia Beach, to get away for a night, finally came on their ten year friendiversary. Alex got wine drunk, shocker, at a vineyard on the way to VAB. Richard drove the speed limit and then some to ensure they got to the sunset on time. After walking the beach and watching the sun set, Richard asked Alex if she was ready. She was cold, and yes ready to go inside. BUT when he clarified, she freaked out and didn't hear anything he said during the proposal. Even without knowing the sweet nothings he shared, she said "YES!". Funny Note: Alex wanted three bands. Richard bought two, with the expectation to purchase the "wedding band" after the proposal. BUT Alex has fat short fingers and only two fit. No they aren't married yet, but yes those are the "engagement" and "wedding" rings.
