George and Cara met at a birthday dinner for a mutual friend. Although George showed up with his girlfriend at the time, he and Cara spent the whole night talking. After that night, they'd assumed they wouldn't see each other again, since they were only teenagers and attended different high schools. To their surprise, they showed up to work at the local summer camp, where they worked as counselors together. They started off as co-workers and later became good friends. George would pick Cara up in the morning before work and buy her breakfast almost every day. Throughout high school, they stayed friends and worked together for every summer after 2011. It wasn't until 2014 that George finally got up the courage to ask Cara on their first date. It was simple, they grabbed coffees at the local Starbucks and talked for what seemed like forever. They were both at different universities, so they assumed they'd stay friends and keep in touch. After a few more dates, they became inseparable! Looking back to when they were only 14 and 16 when they met, they never thought they'd end up here! George and Cara couldn't be more excited!
George is a total hopeless romantic, he loves all things cheesy and would do anything to put a smile on Cara's face. He loves extravagant gestures of love, while Cara is more laid back and simple. When George began planning the proposal, he thought of many ideas that involved large, crowded places where everyone could see us be engaged. After much thought, he realized that Cara would enjoy a much simpler engagement surrounded by immediate family. One night, Cara and her family went to get dinner at a Chinese restaurant, George had told Cara that he was in class late so he wouldn't be able to make it. Since Cara hates surprises, she knew that George bought a ring after tricking him into telling her, so she knew it was coming, but wasn't quite sure where George would do it. The food had just come out and just as everyone began to eat, George pops up behind her. Cara's hair had been tied up, she was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt, and she was mid-bite when George dropped onto one knee. It may have not been the extravagant event that George originally planned, but Cara couldn't be happier! He'd popped the question in front of her brothers and her parents, so everyone got to share in the excitement.
