A true modern love story, Danielle and Andrew met how anyone meets nowadays, on Bumble. After noticing Andrew also played volleyball, Danielle kicked off their conversation with "Yes Volleyball 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼!". They had a few conversations over the next few days. That Saturday, Danielle had plans to hang out with her friends while Andrew had friends over. One by one, Danielle's friends were dropping like flies. One lost her keys, one cracked her new iPhone, another locked her phone in a charging port. It was starting to look like an early evening for Danielle until Andrew messaged to meet him and his friends at Old Crow in Wrigleyville. Going against what her mom always taught her about "buddy system", with a little liquid courage, she ventured there by herself to meet Andrew for the first time. They finally met and ended up chatting all night long. The two of them walked to Sluggers, another bar nearby, where they stayed until it closed. They went out the following Tuesday night to Corridor Brewery in their neighborhood and ended up staying for 4 hours. Their next few dates consisted of seeing the new Bohemian Rhapsody movie, Second City comedy shows, Christmas market and dinners in. Danielle and her cat Zoey moved into Andrew's condo at the start of February 2020. Their relationship survived the ultimate test being quarantined for months together. In July 2021, they welcomed their Bernedoodle puppy, Bruce into their lives.

For Danielle's 30th birthday, Andrew and Danielle planned a trip to Arizona to celebrate her birthday and their 3-year anniversary (and unbeknownst to Danielle, where Andrew planned to propose). However, plans abruptly changed when Danielle saw a ~*slickdeal*~ for a buy one get one airline ticket to Hawaii. Living up to her life motto, Danielle wanted to "treat herself" and they started planning their new vacation in paradise. Andrew and Danielle spent their first few days in Honolulu driving around the island and enjoying the local sunset cruise. They eventually ventured to Maui where they spent the rest of their vacation relaxing at their resort, driving the entire road to Hana (and miraculously surviving) and enjoying nightly walks along the beach. Throughout the entire trip, Andrew carried the ring in a backpack waiting for the perfect moment to get down on one knee. Day after day after day after day.... the ring stayed in his backpack waiting for its time to shine. The trip was ending soon and Andrew knew he couldn't leave Hawaii without proposing. It is HAWAII after all!!! On the final day of their trip, the couple celebrated Danielle's birthday relaxing on the beach and enjoying a nice dinner. When they returned to the hotel room, Andrew suggested they go on one last walk. Andrew brought Danielle to the spot he's been eyeing all week, two trees on a hill along the ocean and (finally) got down on one knee. It was perfect.
