Shortly before my first visit to Ohio Northern University to see my good friend Andrew, he said that he had a friend that he thought I would "really like". Well, it turned out that he was more than correct. It was a Relay for Life event and my plans to bond with my buddy were sidetracked by his cute, fun friend named Nicky. A beautiful friendship blossomed and a few months later Andrew planned a trip to Ohio State University to visit me and asked if Nicky would like to tag along. Another fun weekend passed where our friendship grew further, and a long-distance relationship kicked off shortly thereafter! Years have passed and we are still just as in love as the first day we met. I guess I owe Andrew a beer...
David and I had been looking for a new apartment to rent and we finally found the one! A little yellow, one bedroom house that was perfect for our little family (can't forget about Newton and Marie!) Well, the packing had begun and we soon got the keys for our house. Now, one night during all this I was at work, and let's just say it was one of those not-so-good nights. Telling David about this, he informs me that to cheer me up he is going to plan a picnic at our new place the next day! So I come home and at 8AM there was already food cooking in the crockpot. I gave David a kiss and went to bed. Accidentally, I slept in past the time I told David I would get up, and then when I did get up, I told David I wanted to pack more so we could bring boxes with us to the new place. Now I thought David was just trying to be supportive, telling me "no you had a hard night let's just relax and go!" Little did I know he had a whole scheme... If you know me, I was stubborn and insisted on packing. Reluctantly, David lets me bring one box and we go to the new house. As I open the front door, my jaw drops. I was expecting to see a totally empty house, and to my surprise there was a dining room table surrounded by Christmas lights and roses! The box in my arms at some point was whisked away from me and I turn around to see David down on one knee! All I remember was screaming "NOW!?" (I was convinced he was going to propose in a couple weeks on a trip we had planned) and then "OF COURSE YES!" We laughed and hugged and enjoyed a lovely picnic all prepared by David, then sat on the floor of our new house and called our loved ones. It was the perfect start to a new chapter.
