*Note: This was written by Deon **Note: nuh uh I met Deon during an MIT summer program before the start of our first semester. The week before classes started Deon invited me to a Rush event for a fraternity where we would get to ride jet skis. We then went jet skiing together which was very fun when we noticed one of our friends jet skis broke down and the were stranded in the ocean just a couple hundred meters from shore. That's when Deon suggested we help them out. Mind you Deon had just learned how to swim in the summer program we were in and only recently passed the swim and boat test. Deon then jumped into the water put the jet ski's tow rope around his chest and swam pulling the ski with our friend on it all the way back to shore. It was at least 200 meters of swimming in the rough ocean waves, but Deon didn't back down. Since our jet ski was working fine and everything had resolved, we went back out on the water to have a final ride for the day. While we were out on the ocean I asked him why he thought that was even remotely a good idea and he said "It doesn't matter whether it's a good thing to do or not, it matters whether it's the right thing to do". I held him close as we rode the waves and thought to myself "I'm gonna marry this man someday".
