HOW WE MET

Believe it or not - it was a blind date

It was a late summer day in 2014 at Purdue. Delta Upsilon (Glenn's Fraternity) announced a spontaneous dance (sponto) that encouraged the guys to bring dates. Glenn was asked by his friend, Brad, if he wanted to find him a date for the dance. Glenn agreed, and Brad texted his friend Kylie. Kylie, one of Laura's sorority sisters, used her expert matchmaking skills to consider Laura as a good match for Glenn. Kylie texted Laura, asking if she would go to DU's sponto that night with Glenn. After a quick social media stalk, Laura agreed. At the dance, Glenn turned his charm up to 11 and complimented Laura's handwriting (?), but, his witty humor and fun demeanor won Laura over enough for a sushi date at Maru.

THE PROPOSAL

a snowy slippery slope almost spoiled it

After over three years of sushi dates, Glenn and Laura went on their annual Valentine's Day trip to Nashville, Indiana with Laura's sister, Allison, and her husband, Brandon. After a whiskey tasting at Bear Wallow Distillery, Allison insisted on driving through Brown County State park to take some photos with her new camera. Laura, not particularly dressed for walking around in the snowy weather, reluctantly agreed. After finding a spot to park, everyone except Laura got out of the car to take pictures. After some coercing, Laura finally got out of the car as well, only to turn around and see that Glenn had slid on a hill and fallen, but had quickly gotten back up. Unbeknownst to Laura, when Glenn fell, his hand (which was clasped around the ring box) reached out to catch himself, but threw the ring box in the process. Glenn was able to snatch up the box before Laura saw it as she got out of the car. As Allison posed up Glenn and Laura for a photo, Glenn got down on one (wet) knee and asked Laura to marry him. After some nodding, hyperventilating, and maybe an expletive or two, Laura was able to verbalize a "Yes!", and the celebrations began!
