Kirkpatrick Wedding

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all and has created much uncertainty in our lives moving forward. As of now, we will be proceeding with our wedding on June 6, 2021. We understand that the situation is in constant disarray but based on the current CDC guidelines and the gathering ordinance of the state of NJ, we are well within its limits as far as capacity. The venue has in place precautionary measures throughout the event that adhere to safety guidelines to increase protection. We want you all to know that your health and safety come first. We know some of you may not feel comfortable attending which we wholeheartedly understand. Just know we love you all and appreciate your love and support you’ve given us throughout our years together.  We also ask you to please stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms, may have come in contact with someone who is experiencing symptoms, or recently tested positive for COVID-19. Please see our FAQ page for any Covid related questions. We hope you can join us in celebrating and can’t wait to see you all again in person <3

How We Met

Gladys and Lamorty initially met in High School around 2004. They had a few classes together and waved hi in passing whenever they saw each other. But it never went past that. Fast forward to 2011, Gladys received a message from him on Facebook. The message was the most adorable and cutest message she ever received. The message explained he had a crush on her since high school and he pretty much put himself out there to see where it would go. Gladys hesitated a bit before agreeing to go on a date but finally gave in. After a few great dates, they decided to make it official and have been together ever since!

The Proposal

02/16/19

It was about a week before Gladys’ birthday and she decided to plan a sip and paint with their closest family & friends to celebrate. The music was playing, the food and drinks were coming. They were all having a great time. It was the perfect night because everyone made it out and had the paint room to themselves. After finishing their paintings, the instructor asked for each table to put up their paintings to show their finished art. She started with the opposite side of the room, leaving Gladys and Lamorty’s table for last. Once the instructor got to their table, Gladys put up her canvas and heard everyone clapping and cheering louder than when they passed the others. She thought the cheering was because their paintings looked amazing! She decided to turn around and in front of her was her mother, aunt, his sister and brother in law holding up canvases that said, “Will you marry me?” She was absolutely shocked! His niece is an artist so they both worked on the canvases together. They all went out after and celebrated the rest of the night!
