What do you get when a Gemini introduces a Gemini to another Gemini? In 2018 Monica had moved to Atlanta to pursue her PhD. She was single and not looking for anything serious. In a world of online dating, she was overwhelmed with messages, and if you know anything about Mo, it’s that you may get a text back immediately or in 3-5 days. Her twin sister was living in Tuscaloosa, about 2.5 hours from Atlanta. They spent a lot of weekends together, making irreplaceable memories and cute “twin” photos. One of those photos made it to Monica’s dating profile picture. Yup, she was twin baiting. Out of the blue, she gets a text from Cortney to message Adler back. “Who?” Adler and Cortney are AKPsi brothers, and he reached out to her about being in Atlanta. He finds out that is her twin who lives in Atlanta. Cortney mediated the whole thing. “Go on a date, and if you’re not feeling a connection, you’ll at least have another friend in Atlanta” So, Monica and Adler texted, connecting over UCF and sushi. GKCO!

Mo gave a recommendation to Eight Sushi (her favorite sushi restaurant), and a very sly Adler sends an OpenTable reservation. Monica was excited for Adler taking her recommendation. One day, to Monica’s surprise, she gets a text from Adler “will you be ready in an hour?” Monica was confused and Adler resent the OpenTable invite. This time Monica puts it together quickly he was asking her on a date and the reservation was for her! She thought it was for someone else, and that he was just taking her advice. But when she opened what she thought was a screenshot, it read “Date with Monica” She asked for a rain check. When that date eventually came, he picked her up in a Porsche from lab, and off they went to Eight Sushi. A friendship had fully formed by the end of the night. However, Monica was serious about one thing, she wouldn’t be ready for a serious relationship for 6 months. They still texted and hung out frequently, sharing many laughs.

While on a camping trip in Gatlinburg, TN, Monica was having fun but kept thinking about how much more fun this would be with Adler. So, after enough drinks and while on the skylift, she texts him out of nowhere exactly that: this would be even better if it were with you.

Adler continued to impress Monica. Showing up in supercars and taking her to fancy steakhouses. He wined and dined her. Right around her 25th birthday, she was studying intently for her PhD qualification exam. Her mom was coming to visit to help get her through the hard day and celebrate her birthday after the 2-day, 12 hour exam. What a more inconvenient time to have a dental emergency. Somehow, Monica’s permanent retainer ripped halfway up and was sticking straight out of her mouth. Adler came to the rescue with some dental supplies from CVS. His friend, who was finishing dental school at the time, FaceTimed him and talked him through removing the permanent retainer… with pliers… oh, and this was the first time Adler and Monica’s mom would meet. He successfully and safely removed the retainer, and Monica was good to get back to studying. He was her hero, and shortly after her birthday they made their relationship ✨official✨

That 2019 summer, Adler adopts a dog with Monica. Then he goes to law school. They move to the 321, and a pandemic occurs shortly after. They grow closer campaigning in 2020. About 6 months later, they move back to Atlanta where Adler finishes his JD at Mercer, and Monica starts back on her PhD.

One weekend in July, we went home to Florida to visit. The weekend plans were up in the air— Monica had no idea, and everyone she asked said they have no plans. That Saturday morning, Monica cried to herself thinking it wasn’t gonna happen. Her mom kept pushing her to go to the beach. Mo was reluctant and slow, and kept throwing bait out there to Adler to figure out if he was proposing that weekend or not. She tried asking what bikini should she wear. SHe thought surely he wouldn’t propose if he let me wear the neon green bikini— he would’ve picked the black one. Wrong. She was so wrong. The bikini color never mattered to Adler. She wore that neon green bikini thinking they were having a beach day. Shortly after they got to manatee mailbox (IYKYK), Adler completely surprised Monica with his proposal. She was on cloud 9! A small crowd on the beach cheered us on and congratulated us. Tbh, Monica thought this was her family and friends. Nope, she was wrong again. They spent a little bit of time on the beach, soaking in the proposal and hype of it all, when Adler suggests they go grab a Double O (again, IYKYK). So off they went to Grills. At Grills, family and close friends that could make it were there waiting to surprise Monica and congratulate Adler!
