One of the most popular hikes in Bellingham, this moderately difficult trail has a huge payoff in the form of incredible views of the Salish Sea and the San Juan Islands, and even the Olympics and Vancouver Island on a clear day.
A must see in Washington State! This is about an hour drive from Bellingham. Stop and see the views from the Deception Pass Bridge and visit the state park for some easy hikes.
A steep but short local hike off of beautiful Chuckanut Drive
One of the many great places to visit on Mount Baker. This is about an hour and a half drive from Bellingham. For other hikes, camping, etc. visit the Washington Trails Association website: http://www.wta.org/
Take a day trip to one of the gorgeous San Juans--Friday Harbor (San Juan Island) has great restaurants and atmosphere, Orcas offers rugged terrain and great hiking, and Lopez is a quiet island with some cool state parks.
This is one of several great breweries in town and one of our personal favorites. Nice outdoor seating and a daily rotation of food trucks.
Another great brewery with outdoor seating and a rotation of food trucks. Giz likes this one because they usually have some Belgian-style beers in addition to the IPAs that dominate the PNW.
Fairhaven was once its own town before merging with Bellingham in the early 1900s and is now a favorite spot to visit for out-of-towners. It has really good restaurants, bars, cafes, and is generally a beautiful place to walk around. Some of our favorite Fairhaven spots include: Mambo Italiano (Italian restaurant), the Black Cat (cocktails and food), Tony's Coffee, Övn (really good pizza), and The Village Bookstore.
Super good pizza with cocktails and beer on tap. Try one of their chocolate chip cookies for dessert - they are the best!
This place is sooo good! They are famous for their unique flavors and ever-changing menu.
This is one of Giz's (and Champy's!) favorite places in Bellingham. Beautiful place to hike, dip your toes in the lake, and visit the dog park!
Another beautiful place to walk and hike or take a dip in the water!
