Our Story

Chris: The first time I saw Gio, she was walking down the hall toward my office. Struck by her beauty, I did what any confident, young(ish) man would do. I ran back into my office and hid there until she passed by. Giovanna: The first time I saw Chris, I was with my coworker and manager and I remember thinking to myself this guy is really good looking! Even my manager at the time thought Chris was handsome and that he and I would make a cute couple. I decided not to let my manager know that I totally agreed with her. Chris: Fast forward five years to September 2017. We're in Cinque Terre, Italy, hiking in the hills above the small town of Manarola. Inspired by the incredible ocean view as we walked through the scenic, rolling vineyards, you could barely contain your excitement or your words, poetically proclaiming moving sentiments like "It's so hot", "I should've worn shorts", and "are we almost done?" Giovanna: It was hot! I was wearing jeans and a leather jacket. Had I known we were going hiking I would've dressed for the occasion. Aside from all my VALID complaints, the views from that hike were pretty amazing. Chris: And it was there, at the top of the hill in a small private vineyard, overlooking Manarola and the sea beyond it, that I did the unthinkable. I played Shania Twain's "You're Still The One." And they say I'm not romantic. Giovanna: I remember laughing when you played that song because throughout the whole trip I kept singing Barry Manilow's "Looks Like We Made It" to announce our successful arrival to Italy, yet you kept thinking I was singing Shania Twain. Chris: After some laughs, I got down on one knee and asked. And you said yes. Giovanna: Actually, I didn't say yes. I said "absolutely!" over and over again. Maybe I was in shock or waiting for you to say "just kidding", but it felt like I was dreaming...I couldn't believe what was happening. But I wasn't dreaming...instead, it was a dream come true.
