It’s July 4th, 2015. Families are firing up the grills, pyrotechnics across the country prepare to engulf the sky in a sea of explosions, Drake just released Hotline Bling…life is good. But, for Giorgina Martino & Alex Foley…life was about to get a whole lot better. Alex had flown into Los Angeles from New York to visit his dear friends for a weekend filled with good times and a few too many libations. A rare occasion considering Stone Harbor was where he had spent every July 4th since he was a wee lad. But, for some reason, he felt the need to travel to LA on this particular weekend of independence. Unbeknownst to him, Giorgina was living in Silicon Valley, 6 hours North. She had been toiling away for a startup…living and working in a house with 10 people. Jillian Wilson, her best friend since childhood, invited Giorgina to join a flag-waving festivity, the exact same one Alex was headed to the very next day. Against all odds (her CEO said no to the trip) & in true Giorgina fashion she packed her 2002 Nissan Versa rental car (tricked out with racing seats), put her little baby Bigote in the front seat and drove 6 hours through the night to make it to this serendipitous soiree. At the 4th of July party, their eyes locked from across the lawn and there were fireworks! (Metaphorical…the real ones came later) Some might call two Westchester natives meeting 3,000 miles from home on the other side of the country coincidence. But after 6 years of love and adventures, it can only be described as fate. With each year, their love for each other has grown and now they are engaged to be married. They’ve cruised the Amalfi Coast of Italy in a car far too small for Alex’s “dancer legs”, horseback rode through los cerillos in Uruguay, made friends with a monkey named Elvis on a Caribbean beach (Alex might’ve got bitten). But, where they most cherish their time is with their family and friends and they couldn’t be more excited to share this remarkable occasion with you.
