Take in the distinctive beauty of the Langhe by car and grab a bite to eat or a glass of wine along the way. Avoid the main roads (Strade Statale) when possible to get a feel for the landscape. Here are a few of our favorite spots: -La Morra -Monforte d'Alba -Serralunga d'Alba -Diano d'Alba -Dogliani -Neive -Treiso Again, pick a few and don't try and do them all.
Spend a day in Torino (Turin). It's about a 45 minute drive from Alba/Bra. Torino is also accessible by train. Depart from either the Alba or Bra stations; you'll need to transfer in Torino Lingotto to reach Torino Porta Nuova, which is the city's central station. Torino is packed with museums and cultural sites. A few of the highlights include: -Museo Egizio (Egyptian Museum) -Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile (National Car Museum) -Palazzo Reale (Savoy Royal Palace) -Palazzo Madama -La Mole Antonelliana (Torino's main landmark & cinema museum) Pace yourself! You can't do it all in one day- pick two or three things and go for it. If you take the train, be mindful of when service ends for the day.
The Langhe is world renowned for four red wines: Barbera, Barbaresco, Barolo, and Nebbiolo. In fact, the "Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont" UNESCO World Heritage Site is composed on five wine growing areas in this historic region. We recommend booking a wine tasting if you are a lover of red wine. Fontanafredda is among the region's most notable wineries and has plenty of capacity for tastings. There are many other wineries to choose from, however. Additionally, most larger villages have one or several wine shops (search "enoteca") that offer a wider selection of wines from a variety of local producers.
Rent e-bikes for the day and take a tour of all the villages the region has to offer!
