If you are traveling from overseas, we suggest you fly into Rome's Leonardo Da Vinco (FCO) and take a train from Roma Termini to Assisi via Trenitalia. You can find the link to their website on our Travel page.
The Umbria region is hot in early July, but evenings are cool. You can expect little rain and highs around 80-90 with lows in the evening to about 60-65. But please plan accordingly as temperatures have been quite unpredictable lately!
We will be providing shuttle transportation to and from Assisi to Perugia. Please contact us for more information on where to meet.
Absolutely, yes! Italy's rail system makes it extremely convenient and affordable to travel intercity/town/etc. Even if you're thinking of visiting one of the many beautiful islands, you can find a very reasonably priced flight/ferry that will get you there in less than an hour! If you have any burning questions about must-see places or are in need of suggestions, please do not hesitate to e-mail us at gioandmellywed@gmail.com! We would be delighted to help you plan your trip and hope you all get to come out for more than just our wedding. :)
It's not necessary, but very convenient. In the actual old town of Assisi, only its residents are allowed driving permits. If you choose to stay in a villa just outside the city but come into town to meet people, dine, site see, you will have to park at the base of the town just outside it's old walls. Fear not! It's only a few short minutes (and steep hills) to the main piazza. Renting a car is recommended for families, anyone wanting to check out places nearby, anyone planning on going cross-island (meaning over the mountains), anyone staying for a longer period of time and flying in and out of the same airport.
Everyone has WiFi. Any cafe, AirBNB, and hotel. If you're on a high-speed train, you will also have WiFi. If you are a T-Mobile or Sprint customer, you will have free roaming, texting, and unlimited 2G data. It's slow, but it gets the job done. This is also great if you rent a car as you will always have google maps to navigate you.
