Ginny was attending UAB Optometry School when Mike moved in with his friend, Scott, to study for his first medical school board exam in Birmingham, AL. Sound decision making on a dating app resulted in an epic, weekend-long first date involving pizza from Post Office Pies, libations from Avondale Brewing Company, darts at 41st Street Pub, sushi-rittos at Wasabi Juans, wakeboarding at Flipside Watersports, and house plants from Walmart. The house plants didn't make it, but we're still together!
After Birmingham, Ginny moved to Fayetteville, AR to complete a residency in Ocular Disease, while Mike finished up Step 1 and headed to Baltimore for his 3rd year rotations. We spent the year working to become better doctors and also discovering new places together. In December of 2016, an unforgettable engagement in Bardstown kicked off an amazing excursion through Turkey, the Philippines, and South Korea. We also managed some solid stateside exploring in Tennessee, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Kentucky, California, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Utah, and Colorado.
After residency, Ginny found a job in Atlanta, where Mike would have several rotations during his last year of medical school. It was a great "coming home" for Mike and a new, big city for Ginny. We lived in a little blue house in Inman Park with our pets, Mia and Beyoncé, and have come to share a love of the city. We are now closing on a house in East Atlanta to make our new home base.
