I’ll never forget the first week of school my roommate bringing over our neighbor who “wants to go out tonight” and joined our group. We bonded over welcome week and my life was forever changed with this girl in it!

I met Gina when we were still toddlers - I was too scared to introduce myself, but Gina had no hesitation. The rest is history! We were inseparable growing up, riding our bikes through the neighborhood, taking gymnastics classes, and going to high school dances together. We've both grown and changed so much over the years, but Gina is still the more confident one, always introducing me to new friends and pushing me out of my comfort zone (and one time literally pushing me out of a plane). We always knew we would stand by each other's sides when our weddings came around, and I couldn't be happier to know she's found the love of her life. On the big day, I'll be the one cracking jokes, telling long-winded stories, and making sure everyone is drinking enough water. We have been friends for 20+ years.

My favorite story about me and Gina is the first time we hungout, because it's when our friendship started. We were at the 5SW nurse's station planning a small outing to Skyzone cause that's the obvious place for adults to go, and Gina was sitting by us cause all the cool people hangout on 5SW so she was of course included. We went out to a Mexican restaurant after she showed us all up with her professional gymnastics moves and we started talking and hit it off. Shortly after she sent me a text asking about moving in with me. I said she could move in for 6 months til she could find her own place and then 3.5 years later she moved out and now she lives 3 doors down from me 😂. We've had our own little parties playing 1 on 1 beer pong in the kitchen with club music pumping, taken "secret shots" at outings, and called ubers from the bathroom at bars to escape from men. That one fateful day on 5SW that we both happened to be at the nurse's station turned into a beautiful friendship that I am forever grateful for. Love you Gina!

I met my chosen big sister Gina through my biological sister Jenna (hehe). I joined the U of I crew as a freshman during their junior year, some of my favorite memories of life will forever be walking from my dorm room to their apartment on Euclid street. Knowing that once I got there I was going to get to see the three roomies Jenna, Gina and Taylor. I was a timid freshman, who found comfort and friendship in these girls. Gina quickly became and will forever be my family.

Gina became one of my strongest, and closest, college friends. I was constantly laughing when in her presence, and was quickly drawn in. There are so many memories of that time in my life and beyond that it makes it impossible to pick just one, especially an “appropriate one.” Instead of picking a specific story or memory, I reflect back on how I felt transitioning away from home for the first time. Expectedly, I was excited, but also terrified. Gina was given the role as my pledge mom at our sorority and therefore held an important responsibility. She made me feel happy, loved, and safe and I will be forever grateful. She is still listed as “Mom” in my phone contacts. It is easy to see that Juan also makes her feel happy, loved, and safe. Gina was also a bridesmaid in Taylor and Sam's wedding in June of 2022.

My first impressions of Gina is that she is a fierce, loyal friend. My girlfriend at the time and now wife, Taylor, introduced me to her one night. Gina made sure to pull me aside and let me know if I ever broke her friends heart, she'd come after me. I expected nothing less from my wife's "mom." She cares deeply, and whole-heartedly for her friends. I feel lucky enough to call her my close friend. That being said, I will return the favor, so Juan, watch out! Although, from meeting him, I know I don't have to worry about that. Gina was a bridesmaid in Taylor and Sam's wedding in June of 2022.
