Our (Mostly Accurate) Story

as remembered by Gina

Brandon and Gina met when Brandon was working on his suntan at Buttle Lake and needed a housekeeper for the summer (his parents were tired of cleaning up after him in his tent). The housekeeping company assigned Gina to the job, and she came by every day to clean. Somehow they became interested in and fascinated with each other, though they did not speak the same language. One day, Brandon was writing Shrek fan fiction outside and a gust of wind came along and swooshed all of his papers into the lake! Oh, no! Yes, Brandon wrote on a typewriter and he did not backup his work. What is this, the 80s? No, it was 2003. Gina jumped into the lake in her favourite vest, and Brandon followed along in his red onesie (both outfits can be viewed on the "gallery" page of this website). It was not very romantic because the water was gross. However, they continued to like each other, even though they knew nothing about each other. Brandon drove Gina home every day and cried and laughed himself to sleep every night. They went their separate ways at the end of the summer, until Brandon decided he needed to learn Gina’s language and go ask her to marry him. He showed up at her home in her little village suburb of Colwood. She was at work at Dairy Queen, though. Gina’s family thought it was great that a half-British man wanted to marry Gina. They thought perhaps the couple could live in England and she could meet Prince William instead (this was back when he had all of his hair). They walked with Brandon all the way to Dairy Queen, where Gina was the Blizzard™ master. Brandon liked this very much. “I’ve come here with a view to asking you… to marriage me,” Brandon said in her language. “That will be nice,” she responded. We haven’t heard much else about Brandon and Gina since then, but we think they’re happy. ** Just kidding. That is actually a sub-plot of Love, Actually–which is a great movie, by the way. Gina and Brandon actually met at Gigi’s Cafe, where she was the manager and he drank London Fogs. They have swam at Buttle Lake before, though.
