Things To Do

We have more recommendations than you could possibly dream of for one weekend in Durham. The following are just a few highlights, please do not hesitate to ask for more tips!

Durham Farmers' Market

501 Foster Street, Durham, NC 27701
, (919) 667-3099

You can get delicious pastries, crafts, and coffee in addition to all the locally farmed produce. There is usually music or some other fun entertainment. The market is in Central Park which has a play ground and a skate park. (It is basically downtown, so you can walk everywhere!) Open Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm!

Eno River State Park

6101 Cole Mill Road, Durham, NC 27705
, (919) 383-1686

The Eno River, named for the Eno people whose land we currently live on (for more information on the indigenous communities of the piedmont, visit: https://obsn.org/), is one of our favorite things about Durham. It takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes (from pretty much anywhere in Durham) to access a plethora of beautiful hiking trails and swimming holes. We highly recommend! *Note: the address listed is only one spot. There are SO many... all you have to do is a quick search of various Eno River hiking trails and swimming holes and you will find them.

Sarah P. Duke Gardens

420 Anderson Street, Durham, NC 27708
, (919) 684-3698

I cannot stress this enough... YOU HAVE TO GO TO DUKE GARDENS! It is free to go, you just have to pay for parking. It will speak for itself.

Museum of Life and Science

433 West Murray Avenue, Durham, NC 27704
, (919) 220-5429

Gillian grew up going to this museum and it is still one of her favorite places in Durham. It is not just for kids (though it is one of the best kid's spots); there is a train, a reptile house, a butterfly house, a tree house park... bears, I mean, honestly it's just the best.

Indio

905 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701
, (919) 797-0456

If you are in the mood for shopping, please check out Indio in Brightleaf Square. This is one of our go-to spots for gifts. Brightleaf is right off Main Street and a super easy walk from downtown!

Monuts

1002 9th Street, Durham, NC 27705
, (919) 286-2642

This is our favorite breakfast/brunch spot by a landslide. Besides their ridiculously good donuts (which are made fresh daily, as well as all of their other baked goods), they have amazing breakfast sandwiches, bagels, soups, salads... the list goes on. Weekend mornings are usually super busy so plan for that. (I recommend going very early or wait til lunch if you go on the weekend. You can also order ahead online and take it to go... maybe to Duke Gardens...)

Pizzeria Toro

105 East Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701
, (919) 908-6936

If you want some fancy pizza... this is your spot. It is not cheap, but it is worth it.

Kingfisher

321 East Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701

Best fancy cocktail bar. Period.

Accordion Club

316 West Geer Street, Durham, NC 27701
, (984) 569-2003

If you are looking for a classic bar, this is our favorite.

Federal

914 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701
, (919) 680-8611

Best bar food in Durham. Hands down.

For all the days along the way
