COVID-19 Safety and Requirements

For the health and safety of all of our guests, we will be requiring that all adults 18+ be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in our indoor activities* (Welcome Dinner; Wedding Reception). WE WILL ASK YOU TO SUBMIT PROOF OF VACCINATION along with your RSVP. In accordance with FDA and CDC authorizations/guidelines, we also highly encourage children 5-17 be vaccinated as well. If any adult has chosen not to be vaccinated by the time of our wedding, although we respect your ability to make your own decisions, we will only allow you to participate in our outdoor Wedding Ceremony (fully masked at all times). Please understand that we are firm in this decision, that we are not intentionally excluding anyone, but that our highest concern is the safety of all of our guests. We have been diligent this pandemic and are so excited to celebrate with you all, but realize that we are still living in scary, unprecedented times. Thank you for your cooperation. *If you have a specific medical situation whereas your doctor has advised you not to get the COVID-19 vaccine, please feel free to discuss this with us privately.

How We Met

When an awkward first date leads to a rejected second date but turns into asking for a second first date

Gil and Amy found each other on a little dating app called OkCupid in the summer of 2015. Their match rate was high and they had a lot in common, but does online dating turn into anything serious? Amy was skeptical meeting strangers online. Gil's first message to Amy talked about the dog in her profile (her "heart dog" Shelby who remained in Oregon), and though this was not as uncommon as he'd hoped, he stood out as the sporty cutie who could keep a conversation going. After 2 months of texting to make sure this stranger was reasonably safe, they planned an in person date. Gil's patience has been present from the start, and in October they finally met for some Shake Shack in DUMBO. It didn't go as imagined. They met at the 1 train in Penn Station, where Amy tripped and fell up the stairs. The trains were messed up. Amy got lost because she doesn't actually know Brooklyn. They chose Shake Shack because Gil "hadn't had it before" but then realized he had when they got the food. They went to the fountain at Lincoln Center (her favorite spot in the city) but then conversation wasn't flowing. They grabbed Insomnia Cookies and a fellow customer made them uncomfortable. Things were awkward, did not go according to plan, and it was not a cute first date. When Gil asked for a second date, Amy did not accept. He didn't respond to that right away, so it seemed as though their friendship was over as well. But after a few days he did respond. They kept texting, she realized how much she liked him, and asked for a second shot. For their second first date, Gil came to Amy's dorm where they enjoyed Thai food (which they still eat on their anniversary), watched movies, and felt no pressure. The rest is history. Gil and Amy moved to Jersey City together summer of 2019, adopted their dog Desi late fall of 2019, and got engaged on the Oregon Coast after 5.5 years together. Things still don't quite go according to plan, but that will never keep them from each other again.
