Travel Note

Requirements to Travel to Italy

As of recently, travelers from the United States are allowed to enter Italy for any reason, including tourism! There are certain requirements and exemptions to those requirements. For example, we recommend booking a flight to Milan-Malpensa airport on Delta Airlines, who offers "Covid-Tested Flights." Booking a "Covid-Tested Flight" will require you to provide a negative COVID test (taken within 72 hours of departure) to fly and a negative COVID test upon entry into Italy. If you go this route, these are your only requirements for travel! Italy is updating travel requirements constantly, so please use this website (click view) and other resources linked below for the most up-to-date information. Flight

Aeroporto Di Milano-Malpensa

We recommend flying into Milano-Malpensa, one of Italy's most frequented international airports. From there, you may take the train to Lake Como, or we can provide transportation to Lake Como via van service on Wednesday morning (before the boat cruise and welcome dinner!) Due to current travel restrictions and requirements, we also recommend booking a "Covid-Tested Flight" with Delta Airlines. If you have any questions on this, please reach out to us! Flights are officially available - happy booking! Other resources: http://www.delta.com/us/en/travel-planning-center/know-before-you-go/italy-covid-tested-flights

Travel Note

Transportation for our Guests

We will be providing transportation for any guests who wish to travel with us from Milan to Lake Como on Wednesday morning before our first event of our wedding weekend! Want to skip the train? Contact Gigi & Brock or our wedding planer, Aurora, for more information, and please provide us with your flight/train information. We will also be providing transportation to and from the events of our wedding weekend from certain hotels listed on our Accommodations page.

Train

Malpensa Express & Trenord

The train is the most efficient public transport option from Milan's international airport to Lake Como. At Milano-Malpensa Airport, take the Malpensa Express train service to Saronno (Saronno-Como route). You can pick up the Malpensa Express train from either terminal at Milano-Malpensa. From Saronno, change to the Trenord train to Como Nord Lago. From Milano-Malpensa to Saronno - 25 minutes/$10 From Saronno to Como - 40 minutes/$4 Welcome to Como! Laglio is a 30-40 minute bus or taxi ride from Como Nord Lago station.

Travel Note

Italian Car Rentals

Planning an Italian road trip? Make sure you are following these guidelines for renting a car in Italy. We wouldn't advise it if you plan on spending time in Rome - opt for the Vespa. In Florence? No rental cars permitted in the old city. If you do decide to rent a car while in Italy, ensure you have your international driver's permit!

Rental Car

Driving From Milan to Como

From Milan to Como by car: Take the new A36 motorway (Pedemontana Lombarda) and continue for approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles). Turn right and take the A9 motorway toward Como/Chiasso. When you’re driving on the A9, continue north until you reach the Como Centro exit.

Travel Note

Ferry Boats and Lake Shuttles

Navigating around Lake Como by car is not recommended, as the distinctive upside-down "Y" shape of the Lake can make towns just across the water over an hour car ride away! Utilize this guide to the ferry boats and lake shuttles used by the locals for lake-town hopping. You'll find Motorship, Hydrofoil, and Ferry routes that can connect you to just about any town along the coast of Como.

Travel Note

Taxi Service

There is no shortage of taxis around Lake Como. While not necessarily the cheapest mode of transportation, this may be the simplest. Use this link as a guide to taxi service around Lake Como, including phone numbers and websites for all the major cab companies.

Travel Note

Bus Service

Want to save a little money and get around like a true local? Use this link as a guide to Lake Como's bus services. You'll find that most of the towns around Lake Como are well connected by inexpensive and efficient bus routes.

Travel Note

Private Boat Transfers

It is possible to reserve private boat transfers through water taxi/boat limousine companies, should you need efficient and direct transportation across the Lake. Our recommendations for private water taxi/boat transfer services: Como Classic Boats, www.comoclassicboats.com Bellagio Boat Service, www.bellagioboatservice.com Barindelli Taxi Boats, www.barindellitaxiboats.it/ Taxi Boat Malgrate, www.taxiboatmalgrate.it/en/

Train

Trains to Switzerland & Beyond

One of the most unique features of Lake Como is its proximity to Switzerland. Why not trade in those Euros for Francs and take a train ride through the Alps while you're here? Rail Europe is your guide to railways from Lake Como to Switzerland. We recommend taking the 30-minute direct train from Como San Giovanni to Lake Lugano, Switzerland. From there, explore Lucerne, Zurich, and beyond!
