During your free time, we highly recommend staying at the hotel and enjoying the beach or pool with all of our wedding guests. The town is small, so we suggest taking the opportunity to relax, lounge with a cocktail in hand, and soak up the sun — there’s really nothing better than that!
Located directly at the Thompson Hotel, this spot serves breakfast and brunch every morning. It’s one of our favorite places for breakfast — right on the beach and incredibly convenient since it’s at the hotel where you’ll be staying.
If you have a free evening and want to make a dinner reservation, we highly recommend this restaurant. Try to go before sunset to enjoy a drink while taking in the stunning views of Zihuatanejo, then stay for a 2-3 coursed dinner. You will need to make reservations ahead of time on OpenTable.
A very casual breakfast café just a short walk from the hotel, perfect if you want to switch things up for breakfast one morning.
This is one of the most stunning restaurants in Zihuatanejo — the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the bay. We’ve dined here and had an incredible experience, though it’s a multi-course fine dining meal, which isn’t really our style. While the food wasn’t our favorite, the views are unforgettable. We highly recommend booking a reservation just for drinks at sunset, and then heading back to the hotel for dinner if you prefer.
The beach is only accessible from Zihua by boat called pangas. Water taxis leave from the main pier in Zihuatanejo starting at 8:00 AM and run until 5:00 PM. Tickets cost about $100 pesos per person, and you can grab them right at the dock. It’s a very easy process, with boats leaving quite often! You can arrange for snorkeling here too.
Right on La Ropa beach, this is a casual spot to get lunch, and a short walk from the Thompson hotel.
Very casual pizza spot, great if you want pizza/margaritas.
Nothing beats relaxing at the Thompson hotel, but this is here if you did want to switch it up!
