We’ve got you! Zihuatanejo is pronounced “see-wah-tah-NEH-ho” or just “Zihua” for short.
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH). The Zihuatanejo airport is small and very easy to navigate. You can grab a taxi directly from the airport to the hotel, and it’s just a quick 15 minute drive. Since it’s a smaller airport, we recommend reviewing flight options in advance. Please see some options here: https://tinyurl.com/3vcfn89h
There may not be rooms available for everyone to stay at the Thompson. So I would book your room as soon as you know for sure that you are able to make it to our wedding - please message us if you have any issues.
Yes Zihuatanejo is safe for visitors, especially in tourist-friendly areas like the beaches, resorts, and where our wedding events will take place. We do acknowledge that Zihuatanejo is located in the state of Guerrero, which doesn’t always get the best reputation. That said, Zihua and nearby Ixtapa are considered very safe!! As with any travel to Mexico, we recommend taking standard precautions: use official taxis or pre-arranged transportation, and avoid flashing valuables. The community here is incredibly warm and welcoming, and tourism is a big part of daily life, visitors are treated with great hospitality.
It's going to be hot, so come prepared to soak up the sun! The weather will be anywhere from highs of 88° and lows of 72° at night.
We’re having a very small intimate wedding, and as much as we’d love to include everyone, we need to keep the guest list limited. Please refer to your invitation for your guest allowance. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us directly. If you have a plus one, their name will appear under yours when you RSVP.
We absolutely love your kids, but this will be a kid free weekend. So please leave the little ones at home. We want our wedding to be your night off to relax and enjoy!
Both the welcome party and wedding ceremony are about 20 minutes away from the main town and hotel. We will provide group transportation for all of our guests staying at the Thompson hotel! Pickup and drop-off times will be shared closer to the event.
Yes, all events will take place outdoors.
Yes! If you plan to use taxis, which is the easiest way to get around and can be ordered directly from any restaurant or the Thompson, you’ll need cash or pesos. There aren't ATMs at the hotel so please take out cash before you come. You’ll need this for taxis at the airport as well!
We kindly ask that everyone stay at the Thompson so we can all be together in one place. You can find additional details on our travel page.
Don't forget to bring your passports!
